![]() ![]() ![]() All in all, Ocean Maya Royale fully deserves 5/5. Totally unprofessional, unexpected and we had to walk away. Lastly, we had a really bad experience with the Front of House lady at the Japanese restaurant regarding the booking we had made. I paid by card & didn't look at the receipt until we got back to the room, otherwise I would have only purchased the mosquito repellent which I went in for. $10/£8 for a bag of crisps (Cheetos) & $12/£10, yes a tenner, for a small bag of sour fruit sweets. If the prices were more reasonable than they'd sell more. Thirdly, on site is the most expensive shop in the world. Secondly, we felt the bars shut much earlier than expected. I love a JD at home so should be sipping them at a 5 star hotel in Riviera Maya. Firstly, the premium drinks which aren't included. It's only my favourite tipple! At this point I knew I was on holiday:-) The resort isn't perfect, so it's only fair I mention the negatives. Eduardo offered to make me a Bloody Mary on our first morning. These guys went out of their way to make us feel welcome to their country. Nearly everyone is super-friendly at OMR but special shout-outs to Eduardo & Viktor in the buffet restaurant. The excursions that we booked through both the TUI rep & the wonderful Margarita were all outstanding & value for money. The coffee shop was an unexpected treat, the lady serving is a real credit to OMR. The room was cleaned daily, the Maid's here really do work hard & do an amazing job. We took part & enjoyed all the activities, the best fun I've had in a long time, especially the foam party! The food is very good in most of the restaurants, especially the main buffet & the Blue Moon. The rooms, grounds, wildlife & beach are all fantastic. We spent 2 weeks at OMR in May & had such a memorable holiday. This was our first visit to Mexico and we cannot wait to go back. and I stomped my foot twice and they went about their business. Now they will tell you when you check in, do not feed the animals - they are annoying but hey. Did I mention the drinks will get you drunk? Not watered down AT ALL. The grounds are well manicured and every fifteen feet there's something to take a picture in front of Two pools, a calm one and of course the one with the swim up bar is party central. ![]() Great room, large enough bathroom and all the amenities with daily turn down service. I was booked into villa #12 which gave m e pool/beach access - perfect room, anything along 12 (10, 11 etc) are perfect but a walk back to the reception area, buffet and nightly entertainment. maybe because I wanted them to KEEP GOING lol. Room service is timely and tasty! They have the best ceviche I have eaten in YEARS. If you like to dress up and fine dine then this would be great. We also dines at the Blue Moon which was super "fancy" but not quite my cup of tea. Food: I am a vegan so I am always bothered by the lack of options, however this was NOT the case, I particularly enjoyed the buffet. If you can do without the ocean water you will be fine, if the beach is a must you can enjoy the sand or fight thru the seaweed OR walk a little under a mile and you'll be able to enter the water freely. The smell is a bit annoying but the bartenders seem like they are on a mission to keep you drunk so just drink and you wont smell a thing. Mother nature brings it back faster than they can load it. They have staff shoveling it off the beach before the sun rises. SEAWEED, there is NOTHING anyone anywhere can do about this. Let me just start with the bad, and the biggest complaint I see in reviews. Ok, this was an experience! I will try to cover as much as I can.
