![]() ![]() All you need is courage to face the truth. Hippolyta: You'll become all that you dream of and more. NC: Well, if she's a legend, does that imply some lying was involved? Legend? Hello? She did not become a legend out of haste, she did it through true acts. Hippolyta: (comforting Diana) Look to the golden warriors. NC: (mimics a woman) You're not a real ad executive? I'll still marry you! Real relationship problems. NC (vo): Uh, every rom-com ever made strongly disagrees with you. (The two Amazons complete the challenge successfully, becoming the winners) Hooray! You beat a little girl on a technicality! Still feels like a loss.Īntiope: (to a disappointed Diana) No true hero is born from lies. She finds a shortcut, almost winning, but is disqualified because she didn't follow the rules. NC (vo): Things go wrong, though, when Diana falls off her horse and doesn't hit her signal. (Diana is knocked off of her horse during the challenge, causing her to take a shortcut and remount, but misses a checkpoint, losing the challenge) (The sequence is shown with added-in commentary from ?) I like seeing what this island considers a difficult challenge. (Diana is shown successfully dodging a moving obstacle) A lot of people thought this went on too long, but I think because the effects are much better than the last film and the stunts are really good, I don't know. NC (vo): We see young Diana taking part in the games of Thermy-still-not-gonna-say-it-right, which is kind of like American Gladiators meets Discovery Zone. (The film's opening scene is a flashback, showing a young Diana participating in an athletic competition on Themyscira against adult Amazons) (An image of the main characters of Fantasy Island is shown) NC: Yeah, unless these two are on there, that doesn't really match. (The film opens in the home of the Amazons, Themyscira). NC: So get ready for a lot of questions with no answers. ![]() ![]() Does that make it good or bad? It's.something else entirely, and we're gonna look at it here today. The constant questions of ethics and logic originally damaged the film for me, but now, those exact same unanswered questions make me enjoy it on an entirely different level. NC (vo): When I first saw it, I remember being bored at some parts, but watching it again under the mindset of "just give in to the madness," it's actually quite fun. NC: Because, Christ, it's so entertaining! Now, the question is, why would you only want a handful of things that work when more than the majority of things worked in the last one? And even with it being a mess, there are a handful of things that really do work in it. NC (vo): I can't help it I'm fascinated by movies that never said "no" to anything. and God help me, I kinda love it for that. It's goofy, ridiculous, makes little sense. In fact, tone-wise, this is more what I thought a movie about an Amazon with a golden lasso from a magic island would probably be like. It's far different from its more grounded and serious predecessor. NC (vo): This is one of those movies you're either gonna get into or you're not. (The movie's abbreviated title, "WW84," is seen, then scenes of the movie resume playing) NC: People who hated it really hated it, and people who liked it.liked it. Wonder Woman 1984, the followup to the critical and box office smash hit, Wonder Woman. (Footage from the about-to-be-mentioned film is shown briefly) On Christmas 2020, we were introduced to one of the biggest sequels of the year. (The 2021 intro is shown, resembling the famous HBO in Space ident) Big hit, I says!īigwig: Well, you got it: the moxie, the poxie, the big big gibberish! Lazy words! Now, get out there and make the best Wonder Woman sequels you cans! Jenkins: Well, I just tried making the best movie I could.īigwig: I'm sending you a blank check and my permission to do whatever you want on the sequels. Then we cold-open on a skit involving a movie bigwig (played by Doug) talking to Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman (played by Tamara), on the phone)īigwig: I tell ya, Miss Jenkins, you made a big hit with that Wonder Woman movie, yeahs. ![]()
